The Sun Comes out for Us All...
Hello Butterflies,
First off, I hope that everyone is remaining safe and healthy during this time. I would like to personally send my condolences to the family of George Floyd and his other loved ones. I send all my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been impacted by this devastation. My brother shared a story with me that brought me to tears. I would love to share it with all of you, because on so many levels, this short story spoke to me; and I hope it does to you all, as well. I could not have received it at a more perfect moment.
The story is called “The Tale of Two Wolves” and was inspired by a Cherokee tribe. A young boy came to his grandfather, filled with anger towards another boy who had done him an injustice. The old grandfather said to his grandson: “Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and hate does not hurt your enemy. Hate is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times. It is as if there are two wolves inside of me. One wolf is good, and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense, when no offense was intended. He will only fight, when it is right to do so, and in the right way.
But the other wolf is full of anger. The littlest things will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone all the time, for no reason. He cannot think, because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, because his anger, will change nothing. Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside of me, because both the wolves try to dominate my spirit.” The boy looked intently into his grandfather’s eyes and asked, “Which wolf will win grandfather?” The grandfather smiled and said: “The one I feed.”
In my time during this pandemic, I have been able to really focus my mindset and energy onto some individuals who I saw falling into a dark space in their heads. Mental health and substance abuse have increased during this pandemic, and has played a huge part in my life. I have taken it upon myself, to really hone in and be supportive of those individuals who needed support and comfort, during this time. If you know of anyone who is, or has been struggling with mental health or substance abuse, reach out and lend them your hand; to help guide them in the right direction towards a path of growth and healing.
Real gratification does not come from materialistic items; rather, from the comfort of knowing that you helped changed someone’s life for the better. That is the greatest gratification that you could ever receive. Lastly, I would like to say thank you to the amazing Efrain, who has been the man behind all my Divinity Newsletters. He is not only a caring individual, but has also been on the front lines during this pandemic. He has given me so much support, and words of wisdom, that have helped me change my outlook on life, and how I perceive myself. I love you, and I thank you for your time, patience, and wisdom. Keep being the courageous man that you are today!
With all of my love,
