Fall is for Uplifting...
What's up Pennsylvania! It's Your King Here. My month has been extremely busy already as your Mr. Gay Pennsylvania America. It also started off with a pretty epic amount of heroism. As I was walking along the infamous Central Park walking over to a lab to check in with you on social media and finish my work, I had to stop to help someone in real need. An Elderly African-American Man named Ronnie, from Spanish Harlem, NY (my hometown). On 9/6/19 he took the nastiest and most horrific fall onto the pavement. As others walked by, a few stopped to ask if he was okay, then moving on. I dropped my bag and my plans, and tended to Ronnie. I asked extensively what he was feeling like, what hurt specifically, and most importantly; seeing if EMS was needed. Sure Enough, after trying to pick him up twice by myself, I had to flag down the police to get assistance. Ronnie had just been discharged from the hospital for chest pain, the night prior; and was seeking alcohol rehabilitation to get clean. As I got to the officers, I insisted to Officer McMahon from the NYPD to get EMS for this man. Ironically, this officer was assisting a young girl who had stomach pains and was suicidal, so just imagine the type of day he was already having. By the time I got the officer to Ronnie, a young woman named Liz was also providing assistance. After four more attempts to get him off the pavement, we finally got him onto a bench. We we were able to get his ex-fiance Corey and brother Ethan on the phone by the time EMS arrived. While seeing Ronnie off, I spoke to EMS about the incident, and then myself and Liz had a great conversation & a great walk. Of all things that can happen in a day, only I would be a witness to a horrific incident like this. I'm glad I assisted, helped, and took time out for Ronnie. I would never want to be an elderly man, taking a hard fall on the pavement, and never get help. That would be highly unfortunate. I want everyone to take a step and do something kind for someone in need. Whether it's for a friend, brother, a stranger, the elderly, or whoever...help them. I hope that my month will be filled with extreme blessings and I hope if there is more I can do, that I will. I hope Ronnie gets all the help he needs, and has the greatest comeback possible.I also wish him and his ex-fiance Corey a hopeful restart to their love, because despite his pains, Ronnie spoke so highly of his love for her; it was special and beautiful. I hope that whoever reads this is inspired.
